What can my son/daughter study?
The Academy strives to provide the right curriculum for every child and subject departments regularly review their programme of learning to ensure the engagement of all students.
At The Academy of Saint Nicholas we recognise that the personal development of students, spiritually, morally, socially and culturally plays a significant part in their ability to learn and achieve. We therefore aim to provide an education that provides young people with opportunities to explore and develop their own values and beliefs, spiritual awareness, high standards of personal behaviour, a positive caring attitude towards other people, an understanding of their social and cultural traditions and an appreciation of the diversity and richness of other cultures. All curriculum areas have a contribution to the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of our students and opportunities for this will be planned in each area of the curriculum as well as through extra-curricular activities.

What shall I do if my son/daughter is off sick?
Telephone the Academy on the first day of absence and let us know when your son/daughter will return. If you are unsure when your son/daughter will return we ask that you telephone each morning until he/she returns.
When your son/daughter returns please send in a note explaining the absence to their form teacher or if appropriate a medical note/appointment card.
If this is not done then your son/daughter will receive an unauthorised absence on the register. Unauthorised absences do not look good on your son/daughter’s attendance record and this record may be requested by colleges and work placements prior to acceptance. Also, poor attendance (and especially unauthorised absences) can result in action from the Education Welfare Officer, this includes fines up to £60 and court action.
