Oxford University lecture

Year12oxfordunitalk

On 19th March, 19 year 12 Most able students attended a presentation by a recent graduate, Stephanie Hale from Oxford University who now works for Oxford as part of the WP team.
The presentation was fantastic, totally inspiring. Stephanie who read English was the first person from any school in Skemersdale to attend Oxford. Since then, many more students from that area have now applied and been successful.
Our own students realised that Oxford is accessible to them, breaking down any misconceptions they had and they were provided with helpful tips regarding personal statements and what Oxford is looking for compared to other institutions.
We will have several students who will be applying to Oxford in year 12 later this year and for these students one of the main tips is that they are reading far wider than the specification texts and they are able to develop critical arguments.  Please support the students who will be applying if you teach them and recommend some extra reading for the subject they are applying for.
