Book flood at The Academy of St Nicholas brings a festive treat to Year 7 and 8

What a brilliant and exciting end to a term, which has seen literacy, reading and writing, really celebrated here at the Academy. Immersion in reading has been the result of our valued partnerships with our feeder primary and we borrowed this love of reading and real immersion in a text from our neighbours Middlefield Primary, just down the road.

Students in Year 7 and 8 read both in form time and in their English lessons. We aim to make sure all our students can access the curriculum and any who require additional support are given this through our literacy intervention programmes, a 3 tier scheme for KS3. We are delighted with the progress students have made in just one term with many jumping off the programmes back into their lessons full time. Well done!

Book Flood

Thank you to our very own Miss Dover for ensuring not only that every student received a brand new wrapped book appropriate to the reading ability this year but also to ensuring that a special visitor delivered the presents in a special Christmas assembly. Students could not wait for break to start reading their books. View the Gallery HERE

Poetry competition winner

Well done Charlie, our year 7 competition winner, for his beautiful poem addressed to Santa himself. This festive competition again led by Miss Dover kept year 7 creative brains busy in the run up to Christmas with Charlie winning a Liverpool one voucher for his winning piece.

Enjoy a good festive read!
