The south Liverpool academy, formerly ESLA, is launching this September under its new name of The Academy of St Nicholas. There were real success stories across the board, in addition to real personal triumphs in individual subjects.

Student successes include Anthony Li, Owen Wilson, Natalia Szumiec and Amber Parr, who racked up 19 A*s and A’s between them. Two students achieved the coveted 9 grade in their Maths GCSE.

Student Anthony Li achieved a prestigious grade 9 in his maths GCSE and took his AS Maths exam a year early, achieving an A*.

Earlier this year, Ofqual predicted that only 3 percent of students sitting GCSE Maths will receive a 9, down from the 7 percent awarded an A* last year.

Anthony’s results are even more impressive alongside his 5 other A*s in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science and RE. Anthony also achieved Distinction A* in both ICT and Music.

Just some success stories at The Academy of St Nicholas:

·         Owen Wilson (9 in Maths, 7 in English, A* in Spanish, A in Chemistry, A in Physics, A in Computer Science and Distinction* in ICT)

·         Natalia Szumiec (8 in Maths, 6 in English, A* in Art, A* in RE, A* in Polish, A in Science, A in PE, Distinction in Music and Distinction in ICT)

·         Amber Parr (8 in Maths, 7 in English, A* in Art, A in History, B in Science, B in Spanish and Distinction in ICT)

·         Tom Smith achieved amazing success in maths, ICT, and technology, exceeding his target grades all round. We are really proud of him.

Maths continue to get the grades and scored 2 9’s and 2 8’s. There was an 8 for Steven Auguga in English. Progress in art was outstanding, and ICT, Computer science and PE continue to get fantastic grades year on year. There were real successes in social sciences, separate sciences, music, Business Studies and Spanish

Newly appointed Head of School David Lancaster, says: “This is a special GCSE results day for us as it is our first under the Academy of St Nicholas brand. Our students and staff have worked hard so I am thrilled to see all of their work pay off.

“Our motto is ‘inspiring excellence’ and our students today have done just that! On behalf of all the staff I wish all of our class of 2017 the best of luck for the future.”

The academy is hosting an open evening on September 20th 4-6.30 pm for new prospective students.
